This tutorial is a step-by-step guide to create your own ringtones using iTunes. Follow the instructions below, it’s really simple. Enjoy !
Step 1
Open iTunes and right-click on the song that you want to make as ringtone and select Get Info. In this tutorial I am using “Test Ringtone” as an example.
Step 2
A window will pop up, make sure you are on the Options tab. Now, select a Start Time and End Time then press on OK as indicated on the screen shot below.
Note: The start and end time will be the exact time of the song you chose to make as ringtone. In this example I chose to have my ringtone starting from the beginning of the song (0:00) until 30 seconds in the song (0:30).
Step 3
After clicking on OK from Step 2, you will be brought back to the iTunes playlist. Now, right-click again on the same song and this time select Create AAC Version.
Step 4
Pay attention to the top of your iTunes, you will notice it says Converting “the name of the song you chose”. When the converting done, you will hear a beep if you have your speakers on.
Step 5
You will notice a new “song” on your itunes playlist, only now the time will be shorter then the original song. In this example “Test Ringtone” is at 0:30 seconds.
Step 6
Right-click on the newly created song and select Show in Windows Explorer.
Step 7
The newly created song will be displayed in Windows Explorer and you will notice your file with m4a extension.
