Magellan launches GPS navigation app for iPhone and iPod Touch

magellan_gpsMagellan has launched an iPhone application that offers more choices than your usual GPS navigation software.

We all know that big companies like Navigon and TomTom have offered a navigation application for the iPhone 3G / 3GS. Garmin as well has launched a cell phone navigation application with a hardware solution, which in my opinion has not caught the consumer’s attention.

Presenting you the Magellan Roadmate 2010 North America. This “overhauled” GPS navigation application is compatible the iPhone and iPod Touch !!!

Offered for a limited time on the Apple Store for 79.99$ US, this navigation application offers the following features:

  • Spoken street name guidance
  • Highway lane assist
  • 3D landmarks
  • Address book integration
  • In-app music control
  • Pedestrian mode
  • Find your car

What’s interesting with Magellan is the Premium Car Kit they offer that will allow you to keep your iPhone in your current case, charge your phone, give you a bluetooth speaker phone, allow an iPod touch to work as a GPS, and it’s supposed to work with any navigation application. Magellan has not provided details on the price or time this Car Kit will be available.
